“Still Life” After a career in photography I took up painting using composition and lighting techniques taken from photographing still life subjects. I am strongly influenced by the traditions of Johannes Vermeer and Henk Helmante among others but try to include a contemporary twist to my paintings. “Other Life” More recently I have been experimenting with humorous figurative images taken from my imagination. Whilst painting a picture I have a strong idea of the narrative I want to convey but of course the viewer may have a totally different interpretation of the scene.
